FIFA STATUTES REWARD SUPERSPORT UNITED’S DEVELOPMENT STRUCTURE

FIFA STATUTES REWARD SUPERSPORT UNITED'S DEVELOPMENT STRUCTURE

22 February 2018

FC Cape Town is proud to announce that African football giants SuperSport United have also reaped the rewards of the FIFA statutes governing youth development. As one of the market leaders in youth development on the African Continent, the world class youth development structures at SuperSport United have rightfully received their due FIFA compensation payments.

The FC Cape Town management team are ecstatic to have helped SuperSport United secure benefits from the FIFA solidarity mechanisms. SuperSport United are market leaders in South African football with many of their development prodigies expressing their talents throughout the PSL as well as excelling for Bafana Bafana.

SuperSport United have not only produced many current Bafana Bafana stars but also many world class football brands who currently ply their African flair on the highest stages of World football. Kermit Erasmus joined Stade Rennais in the French Ligue 1 from Orlando Pirates, while Kamohelo Mokotjo transferred internationally from FC Twente in the Dutch top-flight to Brentford playing in the Championship in England; both these international stars are products of the SuperSport development structure.

The FIFA solidarity mechanism states that if a professional transfers internationally, compensation MUST be paid to his former clubs who were involved in the player’s training and education between the ages of 12 to 23.

The FIFA statutes reward all clubs irrespective of size and stature. We proudly ensured SuperSport United received all their FIFA development compensation rewards.

Youth development pays dividends and we are proud to be official partners with SuperSport United on this journey.
